Win\/loss reports<\/strong><\/h3>\n

One\u00a0update\u00a0is the win\/loss report. What\u00a0a company wants to be able to track is\u00a0the\u00a0sales pipeline. It’s trying to predict revenue in the future.\u00a0If you know your run rate\u00a0\u2014\u00a0\u2018normally we bid for\u00a0this many jobs, and if we bid for that many we win this many jobs\u2019\u00a0\u2014 you\u00a0know if you\u2019ve got enough work coming up.<\/p>\n

We’ve enabled\u00a0Synergy\u00a0to track how many\u00a0new\u00a0jobs are\u00a0in the system. Month-by-month, how many new jobs went on, how many of those moved from the\u00a0\u2018new\u2019\u00a0state into the\u00a0\u2018won\u2019\u00a0or the\u00a0\u2018lost\u2019\u00a0state.\u00a0So\u00a0you can now track and graph your run rate.<\/p>\n

Based on that you should be able to say,\u00a0\u2018Well, if we’ve got this many things in the queue, then based on history, we’re likely to win this number of projects,\u2019\u00a0and you can either track it by number of\u00a0jobs in the queue or by revenue in the queue.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve added\u00a0a new dashboard widget for managers, so they can see\u00a0this\u00a0at a glance, and some new reports that\u00a0show\u00a0it in greater detail.<\/p>\n

We know that\u2019s going to be popular. The win\/loss\u00a0dashboard\u2019s making friends everywhere already.<\/p>\n

The road to weekly planning<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The other\u00a0major update\u00a0in the February release\u00a0represents\u00a0another milestone\u00a0on our\u00a0\u2018resourcing journey\u2019.\u00a0We know, it\u2019s\u00a0exciting.\u00a0All\u00a0these\u00a0new\u00a0resourcing vista\u00a0to enjoy!<\/p>\n

Many moons ago,\u00a0to start a new project in Synergy,\u00a0you had to fill in\u00a0a lot of data about\u00a0it.\u00a0Information you\u00a0may not have\u00a0had\u00a0if\u00a0the project\u00a0was only an opportunity\u00a0at that\u00a0point\u00a0\u2014\u00a0maybe\u00a0you\u2019ve\u00a0heard that next year the government’s thinking about building a hospital, and you don’t even know where it is.\u00a0You\u00a0don’t know who the\u00a0project\u00a0contact\u00a0is,\u00a0you\u00a0don’t know the address.\u00a0You\u00a0don’t know anything about it, but if they\u00a0do<\/em>\u00a0build a hospital,\u00a0you\u00a0want to put it\u00a0in the system\u00a0as something\u00a0to chase.\u00a0Like a place holder.<\/p>\n

That’s\u00a0about\u00a0as much effort as you want to put into the planning at that point, because it may never happen\u00a0\u2014\u00a0change of government, it gets wiped off the books.<\/p>\n

We made that easy in the previous release. Like having a wide lens, fully open on the view \u2014 everything\u2019s in sight but it\u2019s all pretty blurry. When a project does go into the system at that opportunity stage, Synergy automatically generates enough information \u2014 based on some stuff like, when you think it’s going to happen, how long you think it’ll take, and what the fees might be. Synergy starts generating cashflow forecasting information, and resource impact information.<\/p>\n

With very little effort you’ve got some help in your capacity planning,\u00a0to answer the\u00a0golden question,\u00a0\u2018If I win all this work, will I have enough staff to deliver the work?\u2019\u00a0and\u00a0\u2018Is there enough work in my pipeline to keep my staff busy?\u2019<\/p>\n

Lookin\u2019 good.\u00a0Nice view. Impressionistic, but nice.<\/p>\n

That was a good first step.<\/p>\n

Proceeding along the planning path<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We were pleased and proud and you\u00a0said you\u00a0loved it.\u00a0But now,\u00a0as those projects become closer and more real,\u00a0it’s worth putting a little bit more effort into\u00a0them, and\u00a0making them more realistic.\u00a0Like\u00a0the camera\u00a0slowly\u00a0zooms\u00a0in and\u00a0shows more detail.<\/p>\n

As it starts to get a bit closer you can then apply a template.\u00a0You might have a hospital template, so you’d apply the hospital template and it\u00a0tells you:<\/p>\n
